We received a call from a Mr S  in Waltham Abbey,  he was in a bit of a pickle he had received a call from a company, A UK male voice suggesting he was from Microsoft and he had a virus,  This was the start of a scam.
these guys are very convincing they do it all the time they are in fact ruthless,  they required remote access  which Mr S granted and they took over his PC completely, he was totally locked out and his password to log on no longer worked. 
Fortunately Mr S sensed a scam he called his banks and got everything cancelled before any damage was done, he spoke to his internet service provider Virgin Media who recommended he call us. 
I collected the PC the same day and started working on it,  firstly we had to get back into the machine and once in remove all the software that had been remotely installed and lock down the PC, ANYDESK was the installed remote software, the hackers go into admin ad change the admin password locking you out so they can go about their business, we cleaned up the PC removing all non essential software and got the PC back up and running, Mr S was quite quick thinking, disconnecting everything slowed the hackers down calling the banks immediately stopped any money being removed, but it could have been so different,  there were hundreds of sentimental pictures on that PC and nothing was lost.
